Welcome to Woodlawn Catholic Regional School. My name is Mary-Regina Bennett, and this is my first year as principal of this fine learning community. What struck me about Woodlawn when I toured it for the first time was it possessed everything needed to be an exceptional Catholic learning community. The hallmark of a well-run Catholic school is a learning community in which both students and faculty are Christ and child-centered and are committed to achieving the mission of the school, and this is what I observed at Woodlawn. I also discovered that Woodlawn was more than a high performing school; it was also a family. The established “Woodlawn family tradition” consists of parents, teachers and students working together for the good of the Woodlawn family; all stakeholders understand what is important - learning, faith and family. This environment creates the perfect scenario to encourage students to take risks and push the limits in their learning. We encourage them to find their faith where they are and to walk forward learning the many lessons of our great teacher, Jesus Christ.
As a school, Woodlawn embraces an academically rigorous curriculum. Teachers work diligently to deliver a 21st century education equipped with technology in the classrooms such as Smartboards, computers and Apple televisions. After years of enjoying success in an environment of academic rigor, our eighth grade graduates have many options and scholarships to choose from as they enter their choice of high schools. As the 2018-2019 school year begins, please know I will continue in the tradition of Sr. Martha Serbst and Mrs. Procopio in ensuring your child grows academically, spiritually and morally. These attributes are the educational tradition of Woodlawn and some of the reasons why generations of families come back to Woodlawn -they know the value of a Christ and child-centered education.
Encouraging diversity is part of our mission; accordingly, we enjoy the diversity of different faiths in the classroom, and families of all faiths are welcome at Woodlawn Catholic Regional School. As always, we encourage our alumni to stop by and see all the positive changes that have occurred since their graduation, while, simultaneously, enjoying the many familiar traditions as well.
